Wooler was. as now, a small town, and many of the inns were coaching inns- stopping points for coaches from south or North, with rooms for passengers and stabling horses. The Anchor also served as courthouse every second month, where magistrates heard the cases of local malefactors and handed down there judgments.
The Tales of William Brown will follow.
